Sand!

While they had fun in the sand, this was definitely not their favorite activity. We spent very little time on the beach and lots of time in the pool areas! It was windy, so I think a part of what the kids did not like was the sand blowing into their faces. Can't blame them there.

Swimming Pools!

Mackenzie and Josiah loved the swimming pools, especially the ones that are quite shallow. They had the freedom to stand up and walk around in the water, with us by their sides, of course!

This one deserves a caption!!! Hmmm...let's make some up. David's would be, "Are you done taking pictures yet?" Mackenzie's would be, "This sun is too bright." Josiah's would be, "I'm still smiling for the picture, but would somebody please rescue me?!?!" or perhaps, "Mom, I'm still smiling, but would you stop taking pictures long enough to get my head above water?" Ha, ha, ha. He would actually go under on purpose. Crazy boy. The only problem with that is he would not hold his breath! He would be pulled up coughing and sputtering, only to laugh and try it all over again. Now this, I just do not get. Why, after repeating the process over and over, did he continue to try going under without holding his breath? This just makes no sense to me! He really does love the water. And we really did stay RIGHT by his side the whole time!!!
This is the picture I snapped right after we pulled him back up. Obviously, all is well with the world. :)

Beach Pictures!

We hired a photographer there in Mexico to snap some "family" photos for us. Neither child was in the mood for pictures that day...oh, well. At least we tried! I really wanted to get these pics. This was a part of my mother's day gift from David!

Lobby and Coconut Ice Cream!

Train Rides!

David snapped this picture as he was sitting right across from us.
This train, also a part of the resort, went in a big circle around the pool areas. It actually connected The Grand Mayan to the Mayan Palace. It made the circuit about once per hour.

Making Iguanas!

Mackenzie and Josiah painting iguanas! They both love to make crafts. Mackenzie had just told us earlier this same day that she really wished she could make a craft. How funny that we stumbled onto this opportunity at the resort after she made that request! Too bad this was not included in the price of the resort, but it was worth the $7 per child as it made a nice keepsake souvenir for them.
I guess I would describe the iguana as ceramic that the kids were painting. Once they finished painting them, the man said we could come pick them up tomorrow. When we arrived the next morning, we found the iguanas "finished." They had a shiny glaze with finishing details and everything! That man had put a lot of work into finishing the kids craft and making it a work of art to treasure! :)

Easter Train!

We went to the mall tonight in order to get Josiah's passport ordered...yes, you read correctly...his passport! We are very excited about getting to take a vacation this year. We just finalized all the plans today. We are going to Mexico! Anyway, I digress.

So, we went to the mall. We had no idea that the Easter Train was set up already; it was a wonderful discovery! The kids love this train, which is set up at Christmas and Easter. Believe it or not, it only costs $1.00 per child to ride. I think that's a pretty good deal. They thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I love the way they like to be together; even though the rest of the train was empty, they chose to sit side-by-side. Precious kids.

As they got off the train, Mackenzie said, "Momma, Josiah saved me from the Easter Bunny." Pretty funny. A 21 month old saving a 3 year old from the Easter Bunny! The train ride went pretty close to where the Easter Bunny sits...apparently a little too close!

Mackenzie also told us, "Momma, the Easter Bunny wanted to give me five, but I did not want to get fuzzy on my hand, so I told him no." What an excuse. She likes to see the Easter Bunny, but not up close!

We had fun at the mall. My mom and Mark just arrived for a visit during UAMS's Spring Break this week. We are excited to have them here for a few days. I'd best sign off and head on to bed. Good night everyone.
