Weekend Getaway!

David had a nuc med conference out of town this weekend, so while he was in one city, the kids and I headed to another! We totally enjoyed a weekend getaway with my mom. We stayed Friday and Saturday night in a hotel and thoroughly enjoy our time together. (Though we missed David and Mark!) We spent Saturday morning at the zoo. I think the kids favorite part of the zoo was the playground. It is huge and nice! Josiah's precious little face was very determined as he climbed!
Mackenzie was so proud of how tall she has become. She can jump up and reach things that she could not reach just six months ago.

Josiah was brave as he climbed on the ropes. Last time he was a bit afraid of the ropes...but not this time! Watch him go! (I was too slow in getting over there to get a picture of Mackenzie climbing the ropes. She was already to the top!)

If you look closely at the above picture, you might get a glimpse of Josiah in his bright orange shirt. Yeah, he's the little dot climbing high in the ropes! I think this picture gives you a pretty good idea of the elaborate nature of this playground.

Here's Mackenzie climbing/crawling across the green ropes. Both kids loved climbing and exploring the playground.

Josiah, Nona (my momma), and Mackenzie watching the African elephants.

A trainer had it pick up a huge log while we were watching.

And, of course, the giraffes. Aren't they elegant?!

Josiah, Nona, and Mackenzie.

I had trouble deciding which one of these two I liked the best, so I uploaded them both! This picture is in front of the giraffes, though you can't see them because I was zoomed in on my mom and the kiddos! :)

Then, on Saturday afternoon, we swam! The kids swam 3 different times over the weekend. While they swam with Nona on Saturday, I got to go shopping all by myself! Thanks, Momma!

As you can see, the kids LOVE the water.

I have enjoyed seeing how much improvement they have both made in their abilities to swim over the past few months. We hope to get some more lessons this summer. For now, the extra time in the pool was great practice for them! I am thankful for a fun and safe weekend. I am thankful for the time with my momma! :)

A Wonderful Visit

My Papa New traveled over from Arkansas to visit us this weekend! My mom was coming to visit and he did not want her traveling alone (Mark was at a mission conference out of state). So...it just worked out beautifully for us, as we enjoyed Friday evening and all day Saturday with both my mom and my papa. We're sorry Grannie did not feel up to traveling, and that Mzee could not be here this time, but we certainly enjoyed Papa and Nona! :)
Just relaxing and working puzzles.

We enjoyed a lunch at Calhoun's. Mackenzie wanted to hold Papa's hand. (This is her Great Grandpa, by the way!)

And this is what she did many, many times during the weekend!

She just loved cuddling with Papa!

Chutes and Ladders

Mzee, Nona, Mackenzie, and David all played Chutes and Ladders in the living room last night. We have thoroughly enjoyed their visit these past few days. They headed back to Arkansas this morning. We are thankful to have had their extra help, and we look forward to their next visit, whenever that may be!
This is what Josiah was doing while everyone else played Chutes and Ladders. He was sitting at the computer watching a Cars video on You Tube while balancing our check book for us. :)
That's our update for today. Enjoy the weekend!

My Little Gymnist & Nona & Mzee's Visit

My momma (Nona) and Mark (Mzee) came to visit this weekend. We loved having them here, and we miss them now that they have gone back home to Arkansas. Here are some pictures we snapped while playing at Sprout with them.

Below is a picture I snapped tonight during Mackenzie's gymnastic lesson. Yes, the room is green but not THAT green! Oh, well. This is not the greatest picture in the world, but it is the best I got tonight, so I am posting it anyways. Mackenzie took ballet last semester and tolerated it; she is taking gymnastics this semester and LOVING it.
Babysitters?

For those of you local friends who read this blog...Any suggestions for a reliable babysitter for a Monday and Tuesday afternoon (about 3 hrs each day) while I go to work for two half days later this month? I have been given a few suggestions already but thought I'd gather any others you might have to offer as I have not yet made any phone calls! I do love getting those few random hours of work here and there, but it is hard to feel good about leaving the kids, too. Realize, I have not worked at all since October...I do love my job! The flexibility is wonderful. I just want to be sure the kids are cared for while I am not with them. Oh the deliema's of motherhood!

And, how do you make this spell checker work, anyhow?! I misspelled words on purpose and it does nothing...what am I doing wrong? How do you use the spell checker on blogger? Anyone? Thanks in advance! :)
