And your response was what?? A few months ago, Laura was talking about dying. She had picked up that word from a conversation Jim and I were having at the dinner table.
Adison asks that too. Unfortunately, he's no stranger to death at the ripe old age of 3 1/2, so I have to tread very lightly when answering. The good thing is we have an amazing truth and hope to share with our kiddos! Adison is just excited about the prospect of being able to punch the devil with God and our family who are already there.
Shellie, I cannot imagine what you guys have been through as a family. Nor can I imagine the questions Adison asks related to such a hard reality. I like what you said about Amazing Hope. How very true.
Sara, my response was a truthful, "I don't know," followed by some talk about Heaven and how God does know our future and He takes care of us, no matter when we live or die.
I once read a helpful way to help explain death to kids. It's simple and to the point. People (or pets) die for one of three reasons: Either they were too sick to live any longer, too hurt to live any longer, or too old to live any longer." Often, that is enough for a young child. Of course there's more to it than that, but it's always best to take it slow with a topic like that. Good job!
I am first a wife to my dream-come-true husband, David. My time is mostly spent at home taking care of my two precious children, Mackenzie and Josiah. Very occassionally I will work in Pediatric Pulmonology as a registered nurse. I also work as a case manager for Professional Case Management. I love my life. The Lord has blessed us beyond measure. My prayer is that I strive to serve and honor Him each day of my life.

Wow. ...scary questions from 3 year olds. Sounds like you handled it well. Way to go, mommy!
